I, Ronman
So this was a pretty big summer for movies but when you’re an Big Old School Comic Geek the two biggest would have to be Ironman and The Dark Knight. They were both pretty awesome and everybody’s acting like The Dark Knight is the best comic book movie ever made but honestly I have to say I enjoyed Ironman more. It’s the kind of movie they don’t make any more, because they already made it like last year.
Though I heard they’re talking about a sequel so I guess it might be the kind of movie they make any more, at least once.
I think one of the important functions of superheroes is to teach us important moral lessons and Ironman does that hands down. He has to do it hands down, because like that’s where the stabilizing thrusters are in his suit. It’s a movie about personal responsibility. Tony Stark is a rich genius inventor who never had to face any consequences until one day he came face to face with a missile that had his name on it.
Like, it was written on the side and stuff. That’s symbolism.
Then it exploded, which is also symbolism, and he woke up in a cave, which recalls the metaphor of Plato and the Cave, where like we’re all in the dark and there are all these different shapes, like one is a heart and one is a star and one is just a little grate with round holes so it comes out like spaghetti.
Wait, that’s Play-Doh and the Fun Factory.
Anyway, it’s real symbolic is the point.
This is a movie about a man who looks deep down inside himself and sees some wires and stuff, and then he plugs like a power reactor thing in there to keep his heart pumping. I think we can all learn a lot from that.

Also notice how the third (good) superhero movie of the summer has a main character played by a dude called Ron. That’s some pretty heavy symbolism there…

Hey Ariella,
This doesn’t have anything to do with the post above, but I was interested in finding out if you got a chance to see any of the Presidential debates and what you thought of them if you did.
