Shouldn’t he have been The Kuardian?
Now everybody who read my old blog knows I’m a huge fan of Highlander in all its forms from the original movie to the TV series to um actually just those two forms I guess.
Okay so of course when I heard that there was going to be a brand new Highlander movie premiering on the Sci-Fi Channel I was a little bit skeptical. Like everybody else I was thinking “How are they going to fit giant insects or lizards into Highlander?”
But it turns out it wasn’t like actually made by the Sci-Fi Channel so that wasn’t really a problem. Though they did work in some savage cannibal killers.
So like then I was skeptical that this sequel would do away with everything that made Highlander The Series be Highlander The Series and completely ruin my awesome memories of the show which taught me so many valuable moral lessons.
Lessons like:
Violence Never Solves Anything Until Just Before The Last Commercial Break
…and…
People Whose Names Start With A ‘Kay’ Are Evil And So Are Most People Who Have Extra Powers
…and…
If You Stay Up And Watch The Syndicated Re-Run At Midnight On Saturday Sometimes There’s Monty Python On PBS Afterwards And That’s Cool, Too.
Lessons that are as true today as they were back then.
Um except for like the last one because there’s no more syndicated Highlander re-runs around here.
Well it turned out I had nothing to worry about. I mean yeah they killed Joe Dawson, broke Duncan’s katana and replaced it with a pair of like kung fu knife-sword-things, made the immortal characters not-be-so-immortal, and Duncan somehow totally fathered a child… but I still had nothing to worry about because I forgot to watch it.
Does that count as personal growth?

ah Highlander. I had SUCH a crush on Duncan! I was always forgetting to watch episodes, though. Unfortunately, I *have* seen a few Sci-Fi Original Movies. *shudders* I kept forcing myself to watch it, hoping it would get better… BUT IT DIDN’T!!!
