Don’t Try This At Home

Okay so like just so that everybody knows: being able to take a pizza out of the oven with your bare hands doesn’t make you some kind of a ninja.

But it does make you better than everybody who can’t.

I’m so not looking for a parade or a medal or a ribbon or anything. A trophy would be nice but I don’t really need one. I just think sometimes in our fast paced modern world we somehow lose sight of the things that really matter.

There probably was a time in this country where we weren’t afraid to celebrate people who had the skills and the courage and the other skills necessary to reach into a hot oven and very carefully pick up a crispy-crust pizza by the edges without touching the rack or burning themselves with hot cheese or sauce. Probably. I wasn’t born yet so I don’t know.

But it’s not too late for the next generation. Parents, tell your kids:

Being able to take a pizza out of the oven with your bare hands doesn’t make you some kind of a ninja.

But it does make you better than everybody who can’t.

And stay in school.

Maybe if the pizza and the oven belong to somebody else. Which would make sense if you’re not trying it at home.

I totally never thought of that! That’s awesome, Ari! I’m going over to a friend’s house right now to try it. Cool idea.
